Those are the words that 18-year-old David Ortwein, one of our varsity baseball players at Southern Lehigh High School, lives by each day as he continues to battle Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He is not alone in his fight and our baseball program will be supporting him and both the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and Adopt a Pig this season. Adopt a Pig is a program designed to help children and their families cope as they face their greatest challenge, fighting cancer.
Our goal is to raise money in the name of David throughout the 2009 baseball season with the help of local sponsors. Instead of just seeking one-time donations, we have a creative way of being able to raise money while also providing more recognition for our sponsors. We have identified certain plays within a baseball game and allotted a particular dollar amount to that play.

donations, as any help and support would be greatly appreciated.
Overall, this 2009 season is shaping up to be about much more than just baseball. David’s battles
have taught, and will continue to teach our kids about compassion, caring, and the understanding of what it means to fight. As a program, we will be volunteering in the community at the Miracle League this year and doing anything we can to support David and his family. We are hoping that you are able to do the same.
