Hopewell Elementary » School Volunteers
The board policy has identified 3 types of school volunteers: 1) Assistive volunteer: (NO CLEARANCES REQUIRED) Does NOT provide direct service to students but assists in the school under supervision or direction of school staff. EXAMPLES: copy room, library, homeroom parent who coordinates needs for your classroom, classroom celebration volunteer. 2) Independent Volunteer: (ALL CLEARANCES REQUIRED: FBI FINGERPRINT, PA STATE POLICE CRIMINAL HISTORY, PA DEPT. OF WELFARE CHILD ABUSE CLEARANCE) This Volunteer provides direct service to students which may be unsupervised. EXAMPLE: volunteer tutor. 3) Field Trip Volunteer (PA STATE POLICE CRIMINAL HISTORY REQUIRED) This volunteer provides direct service to the students or can reasonably be expected to supervise students on an off-site field trip. Volunteers who are continuously approved would not need to have their clearances renewed again unless there is a break in service. They need to volunteer at least once per school year. Each school office and the Human Resources department must maintain a file of all volunteers and their clearances.
